We're Here & Safe

We just wanted to give everyone a quick note to let you know that we are here, in Novgorod. It was about a 30 hour trip from our doorstep to our hotel, which we got to last night about midnight, local time (about 4:00pm at home). Like all trips to countries where you don't speak the language, there certainly were some challenges... One of the best was on the train. R.J. went to the bathroom, but didn't pay attention to what sleeping car we were in. Well... to make a long story short, all of the cars look the EXACT same... see where I'm going here. After about 20 minutes, I am just starting to get concerned, when I hear an innocent and softly spoken, "Patience, Patience, Patience", desperately seeking me. I was able to rescue this lost puppy. :) I don't think I've ever seen him so greatful to see me before and his look of relief was priceless. GOOD TIMES!!!
We are getting picked up in about 20 minutes to go see A.J. for the first time since our arrival. We are both so very excited.
Our week will go pretty much like this:
Today (Saturday): Visit with A.J.
Sunday: Visit with A.J.
Monday: Court @ 10:00am, Novgorod Time
Tuesday: File all final paperwork with Ministry of Education and Orphanage. Hopefully, we will get to take custody of him that afternoon/evening.
Wednesday: If we haven't received custody of him yet, we'll get him this morning. In the afternoon, we are on a train back to Moscow.
Thursday: A.J. gets a medical examination in Moscow and we go to the US Embassy in Moscow to apply for a passport and visa for him.
Friday: Pick up all travel documents and pack for home.
Saturday: If all goes as planned, our flight leaves at 1:00pm (Moscow) to head home. We arrive in Tampa at about 8:45pm on Saturday night.
Keep your fingers crossed and your prayers coming that everthing works out OK. Thank you sooooo very much to all of you at home, who have helped us, and passed on so many wonderful well-wishes. RJ and I are so fortunate to have such wonderful friends and family.
We've got to run to go see our baby!!
